Head Mechanic – Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair all mechanical defects and problems in golf course equipment.
- Train golf course employees on the proper and safe use of equipment and tools.
- Perform and oversee regular preventative maintenance on all equipment and tools to ensure optimal performance.
- Maintain all equipment in a safe, reliable, and operational condition.
- Manage inventory of supplies, tools, and parts necessary for the daily operation of the equipment maintenance facility.
- Monitor proper use of equipment by staff and document/report any misuse or negligence.
- Maintain comprehensive records for all equipment, including part lists, service logs, oil changes, equipment condition, purchase and repair costs, preventative maintenance schedules, and sharpening of reel and rotary blades.
- Safely handle all chemicals in accordance with current Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) guidelines.
- Ensure all work areas are kept clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
- Uphold and enforce departmental standards for quality, performance, and timeliness.
- Ensure full compliance with all company and departmental policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Promptly report major equipment issues, safety concerns, or operational hazards to the appropriate leadership.
- Provide leadership, training, and direction to assistant mechanics and other staff involved in equipment operation and maintenance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management in a timely and professional manner.
