Job Description

We are looking for a Global Pasta Process & Technology Innovation Technologist to join our Technology Development Pasta and Milling Process & Digitalization team. Reporting to the Technology Development Pasta and Milling Process & Digitalization Director, this role is based in Parma.

Job Purpose

The role involves contributing to new line acquisitions and revamping existing lines, gaining expertise in pasta production processes and technologies. You will design and develop new control systems for process monitoring to reduce product defects, enhance quality, and increase productivity. Additionally, you will support the development and delivery of disruptive process innovation projects related to pasta manufacturing globally, ensuring the execution of Design-To-Value plans in the pasta area.

Key Accountabilities
  • Support and develop projects from long-term Know How building roadmaps on Pasta process and technology to deepen understanding of Barilla's core processes and performance KPIs.
  • Ensure proper project implementation in collaboration with GSC Operation and GSC Technical Development by defining new Process Specifications.
  • Develop new Know-how across the RDQ Job Family, fostering cross-competence and continuous innovation in core processes and technologies.
  • Validate opportunities for applying digital techniques based on data collected through sensors and analytics.
  • Build and maintain an external network with GSC Technical Development, GRDQ GDC Open Innovation, and other partners to enhance Barilla’s digital and technological capabilities.
  • Coordinate with GSC Technical Development and GB&DT Big Data & Analytics to select and implement technical enablers for process assessment and optimization.
  • Support the definition of disruptive Design-To-Value programs using manufacturing Big Data for existing and new processes (Data to Design to Value - D2DtV).
  • Participate globally in implementing D2DtV programs, ensuring they meet timing and cost targets.
  • Identify and develop process and product innovation opportunities through core process Key-Factors to support long-term product innovation pipelines.
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Food R&D or Food Process Engineering, with a strong focus on Food Process Technology; knowledge of pasta technology is highly preferred.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Processing, Food Technology, or Industrial Chemistry.
  • Fluency in English and Italian is mandatory.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills, effective communication, negotiation, team-building abilities, resilience, and a proactive attitude towards continuous learning and networking.
  • Willingness to travel frequently (approx. 25%) for business trips domestically and internationally.
