Barilla G. & R. Fratelli is seeking a Global Pasta Packaging Development Sr Technologist within the Global Packaging unit. The role reports to the Global Pasta Packaging Senior Manager and is based at our headquarters in Parma.

Job Purpose

Lead the development and implementation of pasta packaging solutions, focusing on all pasta ranges packed in film (double squared bottom, pillow). The goal is to meet consumer needs while balancing quality, environmental responsibility, and operational efficiency.

Key Accountabilities

• Develop and industrialize new packaging solutions for consumer, trade, and handling units, based on existing technologies and consumer insights, applying a shopper/consumer/customer-driven approach.
• Ensure packaging solutions protect the recipe throughout shelf life and meet logistic and distribution requirements for primary and secondary packaging, while enhancing sustainability.
• Collaborate with project leaders and other departments to deliver projects on time, within quality standards, and cost targets.
• Manage packaging projects through the Phase and Gate process.
• Identify opportunities to maximize profitability through Design to Value projects, working closely with other functions to meet customer and consumer expectations.
• Supply security: Work with GRDQ, Planning, and Purchasing teams to ensure a stable supply of films and backup plans.
• Define and manage technical specifications for packaging materials, communicating effectively with stakeholders and suppliers.
• Coach junior team members on technical requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Food/Packaging Science, Engineering, Chemistry, or related fields.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in packaging within FMCG companies, covering design, development, industrialization, quality, sustainability, or engineering.
• Experience with AutoCAD or similar drawing software.
• Fluent in Italian and English; knowledge of French or German is a plus.
• Strong communication, negotiation, assertiveness, team-building, and strategic thinking skills.
