Job Description:

Barilla G. & R. Fratelli is seeking a Global Pasta Packaging Development Sr Technologist within the Global Packaging team. The role reports to the Global Pasta Packaging Senior Manager and is based at our headquarters in Parma.

Job Purpose

Lead the development and implementation of pasta packaging solutions, focusing on all pasta ranges packed in film (double squared bottom, pillow). The goal is to balance consumer needs with quality, environmental responsibility, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and industrialize new packaging solutions based on existing technologies, starting from consumer and customer needs, applying a shopper/consumer/customer-driven design approach.
• Ensure packaging solutions protect the recipe throughout shelf life and meet logistics and distribution requirements, enhancing sustainability.
• Collaborate with project leaders and relevant departments to deliver projects on time, within quality standards, and budget.
• Manage packaging projects through the Phase and Gate process.
• Identify opportunities to maximize profitability through Design to Value projects, working closely with other functions.
• Coordinate with supply chain teams to ensure stable supply of films and backup plans.
• Create, define, and manage packaging material specifications, communicating effectively with stakeholders and suppliers.
• Mentor junior team members on technical requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Food/Packaging Science & Technology, Engineering, Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, or related fields.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a packaging environment within FMCG companies, including design, development, industrialization, quality, sustainability, and engineering.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar drawing software.
• Fluent in Italian and English; knowledge of French or German is a plus.
• Strong communication, negotiation, assertiveness, team-building, and strategic thinking skills.
