Role Summary
This is a key leadership role in Italy, reporting to the regional EMEA Head of Custody and the Head of Global Delivery for Italy. The position oversees a set of GD Custody activities in Italy across multiple functions, working closely with regional and global GD leadership to drive service excellence, optimize operating models, reduce risk, and ensure compliance with local jurisdictional client, regulatory, and product requirements.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure effective day-to-day operations delivery across custody activities, including interactions with global custody functional leads.
- Promote a culture of risk excellence with open communication, timely issue escalation, and remediation.
- Foster a sense of belonging and operate as ‘One State Street’ to share knowledge and best practices.
- Manage seconded employees and hold external service providers accountable for deliverables.
- Implement processes to meet SLAs/KPIs, ensuring proper staffing and influence functional leadership.
- Contribute to the design of target operating models for consistent service delivery and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external outsourcing regulations through oversight procedures.
- Represent the GD organization at the country leadership level and engage with clients and prospects.
- Act as a senior escalation point for client and service issues, coordinating remediation efforts.
- Engage proactively in client solutions and GD simplification initiatives.
- Manage risk related to operations, compliance, regulatory, and audits.
- Support client change and innovation efforts, conducting impact assessments and implementing solutions.
- Collaborate with IS to improve operating models, reduce manual processes, and standardize operations.
- Work with Business Continuity to ensure operational resiliency and contingency planning.
- Manage the end-to-end operating model and internal relationships to meet/exceed delivery standards.
- Execute the business plan, including financial and operational budgets.
- Lead Human Resources functions such as talent acquisition, onboarding, training, staff development, and succession planning.
- Oversee the performance and development of direct reports.
- Collaborate with global/regional partners to execute strategies locally.
Minimum Job Specifications
- B.S. degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or related field.
- Minimum of 15 years leadership experience, preferably in financial services.
- Deep understanding of asset servicing operations.
- Strong relationship management skills.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to develop relationships across management levels.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to lead strategic change.
- Proficiency in computer skills.
- Fluent in English and Italian, written and spoken.
- Must be enrolled in list 69 / 99.
