Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Global Account Manager based in Italy.

The Global Account Manager will lead strategic relationships with a select portfolio of multinational customers, driving sustainable growth across multiple European markets and broader international regions. This senior commercial role focuses on developing joint business plans, strengthening executive partnerships, and expanding revenue, profitability, and share of wallet. Acting as a trusted advisor, the successful candidate will connect customers, technology partners, vendors, and internal teams to deliver coordinated solutions aligned with global business priorities. The role requires strong commercial judgement, executive-level negotiation skills, and the ability to turn international strategies into effective local execution. Working across cultures and geographies, the Global Account Manager will identify new opportunities, improve customer engagement, and ensure consistent service delivery. This is an opportunity to influence high-value customer relationships within a collaborative, international technology distribution environment.

Accountabilities
  • Manage and develop a portfolio of approximately three strategic multinational accounts, including large organizations with substantial business operations across four to five or more European countries and a wider global presence.

  • Create and execute joint strategic business plans that align customer objectives with commercial priorities across local, regional, and international markets.

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with C-level executives, senior decision-makers, and executive sponsors, positioning the organization as a strategic business partner.

  • Identify and pursue opportunities to increase revenue, profitability, operating income, and share of wallet across the assigned customer portfolio.

  • Develop compelling value propositions and business cases to support executive discussions, strategic decisions, and long-term customer growth.

  • Lead complex, high-value commercial negotiations involving multiple countries, stakeholders, vendors, and business units.

  • Understand customer strategies, business challenges, and market priorities, translating them into coordinated initiatives and actionable plans across regions.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to customers, technology partners, vendors, and internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment around shared commercial objectives.

  • Coordinate local sales teams across Europe and collaborate with colleagues in other global regions to deliver a consistent and connected customer experience.

  • Navigate cultural, operational, and market differences to build alignment, strengthen collaboration, and resolve competing priorities across countries.

  • Organize and lead executive-level and board-level engagements that support customers' strategic objectives and strengthen long-term partnerships.

  • Identify customer needs and coordinate the appropriate internal teams to address challenges, resolve issues, and improve overall customer satisfaction.

  • Analyze account performance, identify growth opportunities, and develop initiatives that expand business potential across the portfolio.

  • Collaborate with business units, sales teams, vendor representatives, and other stakeholders to execute joint plans and achieve commercial targets.

  • Promote digital and e-commerce solutions, including relevant customer-facing platforms, encouraging adoption and improving the customer experience.

  • Maintain accurate and timely account reporting, sales forecasts, customer profiles, and CRM records to support effective decision-making and performance management.

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to colleagues across functions and countries, influencing outcomes through collaboration rather than relying solely on direct authority.

Requirements:
  • At least 8 years of experience in strategic, international, or global account management, ideally within the information technology sector.

  • Demonstrated success managing large, complex multinational customers across multiple countries and coordinating relationships across regional and global markets.

  • Experience in an international account management role within IT distribution, a technology vendor, a large reseller, a systems integrator, or a comparable technology-focused business.

  • Proven ability to build relationships with C-level executives and senior decision-makers, influence strategic discussions, and negotiate complex commercial agreements.

  • Excellent relationship management skills and the ability to act as a trusted advisor to customers, partners, vendors, and internal stakeholders.

  • A highly collaborative approach, with the ability to coordinate cross-functional and international teams, build consensus, and influence stakeholders without direct reporting authority.

  • Strong intercultural awareness and the ability to work effectively across different countries, business environments, and communication styles.

  • Solid commercial and financial acumen, including an understanding of revenue growth, margins, profitability, operating income, and account performance.

  • Strong strategic account planning, business development, opportunity identification, and commercial negotiation capabilities.

  • The ability to manage complexity and translate global business strategies into practical, measurable local initiatives.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills, including the confidence to communicate with senior executives and lead high-level discussions.

  • Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret account data and identify business opportunities.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, along with experience using CRM platforms.

  • Familiarity with Compass CRM and SAP R/3 is advantageous.

  • Fluent English and French are essential for effective communication with customers and colleagues across the international business environment.

  • Additional European language skills are an advantage, particularly German.

  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally on a regular basis to support customer relationships, business planning, and cross-regional collaboration.

Benefits:
  • Flexible benefits: Access to benefits and programs tailored to the applicable country and individual needs.

  • Professional development: Formal leadership development programs, career advancement opportunities, and a range of on-demand learning resources.

  • Well-being support: Resources designed to support financial, physical, and mental well-being, including seminars, events, and an employee assistance program.

  • Inclusive workplace: A diverse and collaborative environment that values different perspectives and promotes equitable development opportunities.

  • Global onboarding and networking: Structured onboarding designed to help new employees connect with colleagues and establish relationships across the international organization.

  • Community involvement: Opportunities to participate in employee-led communities, business resource groups, volunteering, and environmental and social initiatives.

  • International career exposure: Opportunities to collaborate with multinational customers, executive stakeholders, and colleagues across Europe and other global regions.

  • Strategic business impact: The opportunity to influence major customer relationships, develop international business opportunities, and contribute to long-term commercial growth.

  • Collaborative culture: An environment that emphasizes shared ownership, continuous development, innovation, teamwork, and ethical business practices.
