WSP is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to support engineering activities in planning, design, analysis, and sizing of foundations, retaining walls, excavation support works, slope stability, underpasses, and surface water management systems for projects in environmental remediation, renewable energy, water treatment, landfills, and decommissioning. The role will focus on ensuring the safety, stability, and sustainability of structures, while collaborating with the team on project feasibility, safety, sustainability, and environmental protection, contributing to WSP's objectives.
YOUR NEW ROLE, WHATS INVOLVED?
The Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for planning, analysing, and sizing foundations, underground structures, ground stabilization works, and surface water management systems for both new and existing projects. This includes performing static verifications, preparing calculation reports, estimating costs, and defining execution timelines. The role applies principles of soil mechanics, construction science, and structural mechanics to ensure safety and stability, using advanced software to assess structural capacity and environmental conditions.
The engineer will collaborate with architects, civil engineers, and other specialists to define investigation plans, analyse field data, and ensure compliance with regulations. Additionally, they will draft technical reports, drawings, and schedules, communicating project progress and solutions. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, along with a passion for staying updated on industry innovations, are essential for success in this role.
WHAT IF IT WAS YOU?
The candidate should have a degree in Civil Engineering (specializing in Geotechnical or Structural Engineering) with relevant experience. Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Plaxis 2D), and tools like Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project is required. A strong understanding of engineering principles, regulations, and fluency in English are also essential.
