We’re the leading content recommendation platform, delighting audiences with engaging, personalized content recommendations while serving as the primary engagement partner and platform for the world’s top digital media companies. In Italy, we are working with the likes of Gedi, Sky, Il Sole 24 Ore, and many others.

Outbrain is looking for a commercially driven General Manager, Italy (m, f, d). In this leading role, you are responsible for managing the business teams and P&L of the country. You will be in charge of our demand revenues, with a core focus on Agency / Enterprise brands as well as Mid Market brands. You will build the territory strategy, lead a winning business team, and deliver revenues and long-term client satisfaction on both the publisher and advertiser sides. You will also be the representative face of Outbrain in Italy (communication, legal, c-level partners). This role will report into the Managing Director, SELATAM.

A day in the life
  • Manage, actively participate, and support the sales teams in building the sales pipeline of advertisers, pursuing and closing partnerships and contracts.
  • Own the demand commercial framework, strategy, and pricing, while scaling new revenue streams efficiently.
  • Build and maintain strict budget management guidelines to meet cash contribution targets, collaborating with Finance.
  • Negotiate strategic contracts, structure deals, and ensure compliance with Outbrain policy and best practices.
  • Improve productivity and business efficiency.
  • Lead, empower, and support a team of highly motivated, world-class professionals.
  • Represent Outbrain as a market leader by organizing industry events, public appearances, and conferences.
  • You are an Outbrain Evangelist!
  • Work closely with global management teams within a matrix organization to devise and implement plans that exceed company goals.
  • Maintain regular communication with peers in other EMEA markets.
  • Manage the country P&L, accurately forecasting revenue and new business figures.
  • Act as ‘office leader’: hiring, training, and overseeing team activities.
What you’ll bring
  • Proven communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills at a senior level, with the ability to develop relationships with C-level management in Italy, and fluency in English.
  • Extensive senior network within agency, enterprise, and/or mid-market segments.
  • Proven track record of working with and understanding publisher needs, securing, and developing strategic deals.
  • Ability to negotiate contracts, with a good understanding of contract law, data protection, and privacy issues.
  • Experience in managing teams virtually and leading by example.
  • Experience in managing a P&L.
  • Strong analytical skills to monitor, converse with clients, and identify trends in data and reports.
  • Solid understanding of digital technologies, trends, and discovery potential.
  • Willingness to travel to partners, advertisers, and offices within a hybrid work environment.
