A leading IT services provider is seeking a GCP Data Engineer / Data Architect to design and implement data processing systems. The role involves building data pipelines, collaborating with teams, and ensuring data-driven decision-making. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and 5-10 years of experience in data engineering. Proficiency in Scala, Java, or Python and strong SQL skills are essential. This is a full-time position based in Treviso, Italy.

A Data Architect enables data-driven decision-making by designing, building, operationalizing, securing, and monitoring data processing systems with a focus on security, compliance, scalability, efficiency, reliability, fidelity, flexibility, and portability. The main goal is to transform raw data into information, insights, and business value.

• Build large-scale batch and real-time data pipelines using data processing frameworks on GCP cloud platform.
• Apply analytical, data-driven approaches to understand rapidly changing business needs.
• Collaborate with teams to evaluate business needs, liaise with key partners, and address data system management requirements.
• Participate in project planning, defining milestones, deliverables, and resource needs; track activities and task execution.

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field.
• 5-10 years’ experience in data engineering roles.
• Proficiency in software engineering with Scala, Java, or Python.
• Advanced SQL skills, preferably with BigQuery.
• Knowledge of Google Managed Services such as Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Data Fusion.
• Experience with workflow management tools.
• Understanding of GCP architecture for batch and streaming data.
• Strong data technologies and modeling knowledge.
• Experience building modern, cloud-native data pipelines with an ELT approach.
• Experience in Data Migration and Data Warehousing.
• Ability to organize, normalize, and store complex data for ETL processes and end-user access.
• Passion for designing data ingestion and transformation from multiple sources.
• Familiarity with developer tools and CICD processes.
• Excellent communication skills and empathy for end users and internal customers.

Nice-to-have

• Google Cloud Data Engineer Certification.
• Experience with Big Data ecosystems like Hadoop, Hive, HDFS, HBase.
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies and DevOps principles.
