Offer Description

The Researcher shall carry out research activities consistent with the scope of the Scientific Disciplinary Sector BIOS-14/A – Genetics. The primary research focus will be the genetic and epigenetic bases of complex traits and gene–environment interactions, with particular emphasis on molecular mechanisms associated with stress responses, chronic pain and vulnerability to addiction. Activities will include the study of DNA methylation and gene expression regulation, including microRNA-mediated regulation, using molecular and omics approaches and integrated statistical analyses of genetic, epigenetic and environmental data. Research will also address the identification and evaluation of molecular biomarkers, including in biological samples obtained through non-invasive methods, with potential biomedical and forensic applications. The research activity, also carried out in collaboration with leading national and international research groups, is expected to produce results suitable for publication in international peer-reviewed scientific journals and dissemination at national and international conferences, as well as through knowledge transfer and public engagement initiatives. The Researcher is also expected to participate in national and international competitive funding schemes supporting research in genetics, epigenetics and their applications. The Researcher shall also undertake teaching, supplementary teaching and student support activities, contributing to courses within the Scientific Disciplinary Sector BIOS-14/A – Genetics, particularly in general and molecular genetics, human and model organism genetics, and epigenetics, offered in the Department’s bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes. Teaching activity will consist of frontal lessons, classroom exercises and laboratory experiences, assistance with student activities, participation in evaluation committees for specific exams and for final degree examinations, within the range of subjects and topics envisaged by the contract. The teaching activity to be carried out as part of the courses will not exceed 120 hours, according to university regulations.
