Job Description

The jobholder manages furnace rebuilding projects in any of our European Ardagh plants, from a conceptual stage through engineering and implementation to commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Develop and assess rebuilding options to achieve technical, environmental, and commercial requirements
• Prepare a detailed furnace specification
• Carry out cost and materials estimates to develop a project budget and control costs throughout the project
• Manage the procurement process for contracting engineering and site services
• Oversee the furnace engineering process and participate in project teamwork during planning, including site visits and meetings
• Supervise site works during the rebuild, coordinating contractors and interfaces with other project areas
• Manage heat-up, commissioning, hot insulation, performance tests, and snagging until hand-over to the factory
• Stay updated on furnace technology developments and contribute to group knowledge
• Enforce all health and safety regulations and policies
• Promote best practices and standardized furnace design across the company
• Lead energy efficiency innovations to maintain competitive advantage

Requirements

• Master of Science, certified engineer, or technician in glass technology, glass production, civil, or mechanical engineering, or similar qualifications
• Project management experience
• Experience supervising teams and contractors
• Minimum of 3-5 years in related fields
• Proficiency in English
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Driving license
• Based in Germany, with willingness to travel for business and unscheduled trips
