Blackboard Studio in Milan is seeking a talented mobile engineer to own the iOS product experience within Kiwi AI. You’ll ship beautiful, high-performance features and shape product direction with the founder and product team.

You’ll work on end-to-end development from concept to production, with ownership of learning workflows, community classes, and document-sharing features. Hybrid work in Milan, equity offered.

Blackboard is a portfolio of AI-native consumer apps: we believe AI is reshaping how people use day-to-day software, and we’re leading the revolution.

We’re growing extremely fast (0 → €1M ARR in 10 months) with a small team of 8 incredibly talented young people (median age is 24!) who love to build and ship things.

About the role

You’ll be our 3rd engineer in the mobile team of Kiwi AI.

You’ll work directly with the founder, product, and growth team across the whole app: mobile development, architecture, AI, performance, UX, and improving product KPIs.

After an initial period on Kiwi AI, you’ll be able to decide whenever to keep scaling Kiwi AI to tens of millions of users across Europe or to jump into the 0 to 1 of one of our upcoming products.

• Own the iOS mobile product experience, from development to the App Store

What you’ll work on

You will own the full product lifecycle, including:

• Turning Kiwi AI from just a “summary” tool to a complete platform where students can learn efficiently
• Own the full learning workflow in-app, creating a Duolingo-style learning progression from the user’s uploaded material
• Developing our community classes-based product, including leaderboards and friends activities
• Developing our public document-sharing product, which will let users find readily available materials from their classes, which turn into interactive lessons

More generally:

• Build and ship features from concept to production
• Work with our product and design team to define roadmaps and product direction
• Create beautiful UX and AI workflows
• Test ruthlessly and catch bugs before users do
• Trace issues through the stack when they slip throughUse AI tools to move faster and explore ideas

Who we’re looking for

• You are based in or near Milan, or open to relocating
• You have 2+ years of mobile development experience with React Native (Expo)
• You’re experienced in both React Native (required) and Swift (optional)
• You are a mobile-freak and have shipped your own apps
• You value craft and taste over everything, obsessing over every pixel
• You like going deep into a problem and thinking in first principles. You go the extra mile to speak with users, run tests and propose the best solution possible to the problem
• You don’t stop at the UI, you dive deep into product-related aspects (UX, KPIs, business metrics, roadmap)
• You thrive in a high-ownership and dynamic startup environment

You care about how the product feels.

You understand that in a consumer product, the difference between “good” and “magical” can be the difference between a user who churns and one who tells all their friends.

• Can debug issues across iOS, React Native, networking, and backend systems when needed

You will work directly with the founder and product team to understand user problems, scope solutions, make product decisions, build the feature, test it, ship it, run A/B tests and watch millions of real users use it.

• Move fast without needing heavy overhead
• Care about activation, conversion, user progress and retention
• Take responsibility for outcomes, not just code
• Want to build something from the ground up
• Speed and reliability are not tradeoffs for you. They are both the standard.

We move quickly and expect engineers to use modern tools aggressively.

You should already be using AI tools in your daily workflows and thinking seriously about what engineering will look like over the next few years.
