Job summary

Mindrift is seeking a Freelance Mechanical CFD Engineer to help train and evaluate AI agents on expert-level fluid simulations. You will take CAD geometry, set up and run simulations, build verified reference solutions, and write Python checks for the agent's results.

Work fully remote on your own schedule, with 10–20 hours per week during active phases. Compensation is up to $31 per hour, depending on level and pace.

Qualifications

• A degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering; PhD preferred but not required.
• Several years of hands-on CFD with OpenFOAM, ANSYS Fluent/CFX or STAR-CCM+, including meshing.
• Solid verification and validation practices: mesh-independence studies and validation against experiments or benchmarks.
• Comfortable with Python and GitHub.
• English at B2 level or above.
• Nice to have: aerospace, automotive, offshore or turbomachinery background; multiphase or particle-laden flow experience.

Requirements

Compensation

On this project, contributors can earn up to $31 per hour equivalent, depending on their level and pace of contribution.
