The Fisheries and Aquaculture Division (NFI) at FAO headquarters in Rome invites applications for the Fishery Officer role. The post supports data management, analysis and information systems to strengthen FAO's evidence-based policy, global reporting and knowledge products in fisheries and aquaculture.

Reporting to the Senior Fishery Officer, you will collaborate with international partners, help design data models and web platforms, contribute to capacity development and training, and support

Competenze

• Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in biology, fishery science, natural sciences, marine ecology or related discipline.
• Three years of relevant experience in fisheries or aquaculture data management, analysis, information systems or related fields.
• Working knowledge of English and intermediate knowledge of another FAO official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish).

• Collects and analyses technical, social, economic, environmental, institutional and technology related information to support programme projects, as well as products and services.
• Undertakes analysis, provides technical input for plans and reports and edits/revises technical documents.
• Participates in the development of improved work methods, tools and systems.
• Updates databases and web pages.
• Collaborates with partners and stakeholders on data sharing and information initiatives.
