Identis is seeking a Junior/Middle Firmware Engineer to join its R&D Hardware & Firmware Engineering team in Italy. You will develop on-device code (embedded software) and digital logic for high-precision personalization systems, collaborating across legacy maintenance and next-generation product architectures.

You will design embedded software in C/C++, implement VHDL for FPGA tasks, work with hardware teams on board bring-up, and debug with lab instruments.

Competenze

• Education: Technical Diploma/ITS Degree (Mechatronics, Electronics, Computer Science) OR Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Electronic or Computer Engineering.
• Experience: 1 to 4 years in firmware or low-level development; relevant academic/personal projects ok for juniors.
• Programming: Solid foundation in C and/or C++ for embedded systems.
• Digital Logic: Working knowledge of VHDL and FPGA architectures.
• Hardware Interfacing: Familiarity with MCU architectures, low-level protocols (UART, SPI, I2C), and basic lab tools.
• Tools & Languages: Git; professional working proficiency in technical English.

Mansioni

• Firmware Development: Design, write, and maintain embedded software in C/C++ for microcontrollers and target hardware.
• FPGA & Logic Design: Develop and integrate VHDL code on FPGA architectures for digital logic and motor control.
• Hardware Integration: Collaborate with hardware/mechanical teams to integrate firmware with boards and support bring-up.
• Debugging & Testing: Troubleshoot code and hardware interfaces with oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
• Driver Development: Write low-level drivers; manage protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, RS232, USB, TCP/IP, CAN).
• Code Maintenance & Docs: Bug-fixing on legacy systems; maintain docs; versioning via Git.
