We're now looking for a colleague to join our team in Bologna, Italy as a Firmware Engineer.

Job Overview: You will be responsible for designing, developing, managing, and maintaining the software used inside the DSP (Digital Signal Processing) to control UPS power electronic converters, generate diagnostics, and handle communication buses.

Your Core Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and support complex software applications and related documentation;
• Work in an international firmware team;
• Create functional, architecture, and design specifications;
• Test and validate software according to standard procedures;
• Analyze existing software to understand all functionalities;
• Implement new control algorithms;
• Install software at customer sites for prototypes;
• Provide customer support and visit to address issues.

Requirements for Success:

• Education: Engineering, Informatics, or equivalent degree with experience in Embedded Software (DSP or Microcontroller);
• Experience: At least 3 years;
• Proficiency in C language;
• Experience with embedded applications on DSP or microcontrollers, knowledge of CAN-controller, I²C bus, UART, SPI, A/D and D/A converters, FPGA;
• Practical knowledge of version control tools like CVS, SVN, GIT;
• Experience with software project management tools like Rally;
• Understanding of power converter architectures such as AC/DC, DC/AC, DC/DC step-up/down;
• Good understanding of operating system concepts: processes, memory management, file systems, task management.
