This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to work in an American multinational chemical company. The accounting lead will play a key role in the EMEA Financial Shared Services structure, supervising the RTR team functions in accordance with Group Policies, local and US GAAP requirements, agreed service level agreements, and key performance indicators.
Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and motivate a team of accounting professionals
- Oversee and own the Month End Closing process, review reporting packages, and ensure deadlines are met
- Monitor SOX compliance across departments by gathering controls
- Prepare, review, and approve balance sheet reconciliations in Blackline
- Serve as the first point of contact for corporate and FP&A departments
- Approve monthly and quarterly variances, interacting with PTP, OTC, FP&A as needed
- Own the audit process and act as the primary contact for auditors, ensuring timely deliverables
- Monitor tax payments according to schedules provided by the tax department
- Manage cash flow forecasts and actuals
- Escalate and resolve issues promptly
- Maintain relationships with auditors, managing engagement calendars and signing off on engagement letters
- Ensure timely presentation of financial statements
- Manage team activities, including holidays, performance reviews, backups, and interviews
- Take ownership of special projects in addition to daily activities
- Respond to ad hoc queries and perform analyses, prioritizing effectively to ensure timely responses
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Over 5 years of experience in Accounting/Finance
- Experience leading a team
- Advanced Excel skills, including building complex models and handling large data sets
- Experience with SAP; JDE and HFM are a plus
- Experience in a leading accounting role within FSS in a large, listed multinational company (desirable)
- US GAAP and SOX compliance experience
