Job summary

BauWatch Italy is seeking an experienced Accountant to lead the Italian finance function from Milan, coordinating closely with the central Group Finance team. You will manage invoicing, month-end close, tax compliance and controls, while enabling strategic financial insights for growth.

The role requires a bachelor’s in corporate finance or equivalent, SAP experience, and fluency in Italian with good English. A dynamic, international environment supports your professional growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor level education required.
• Education in corporate finance or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of Italian tax and financial reporting requirements.
• Solid experience with SAP is a strong plus.
• Experience in a growing medium-sized organization is a plus.
• Excellent command of Italian and good English.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the local finance function in Italy, including invoicing, AR, and internal controls.
• Lead month-end and year-end close and ensure timely reporting to Group Finance.
• Ensure VAT, corporate income tax and payroll-related compliance with external advisors as needed.
• Identify and implement improvements in financial processes and reporting.
• Partner with the Managing Director Italy on financial planning and target setting.
• Drive budgeting and forecasting processes and monitor variances.
• Oversee day-to-day accounting, invoicing, AR/AP, and cash flow management.
• Collaborate with the remote SSC in Romania while maintaining local ownership.
• Be the key financial contact for local management, Group Finance, and auditors.
• Base location is Milan and report to BauWatch Group finance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Take full ownership of the local finance function in Italy, maintaining a strong hands-on involvement in financial operations, particularly in executing, managing and optimizing the invoicing process, improving accounts receivable performance, and ensuring effective financial controls and compliance

• Manage and actively contribute to the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting to Group Finance.

• Ensure compliance with Italian statutory, tax and financial reporting requirements, including VAT, corporate income tax and payroll-related obligations, in cooperation with external advisors where applicable.

• Identify and implement improvements in financial processes, internal controls and reporting to support the continued growth and professionalization of the organization.

• Act as a trusted financial business partner to the Managing Director Italy, work together on (financial) targetsetting, providing financial insights, challenging business performance and supporting strategic and operational decision-making.

• Drive financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes, including monitoring financial performance, analyzing variances and identifying opportunities to improve profitability and cash flow.

• Oversee and remain hands-on in day-to-day financial operations, including accounting, invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable and cash flow management.

• Work closely with the remote finance team in the Shared Service Center (SSC) in Romania, ensuring effective collaboration, clear alignment of responsibilities and timely delivery of financial activities, while maintaining full ownership of the local finance function in Italy.

• Act as the key financial contact for local management, Group Finance, external accountants, auditors and tax advisors.

• You will be based in Milan, working closely with the Italian management team and reporting directly to BauWatch Group, who oversees the centrally organized finance organization.

What we expect from you:

• Higher professional education – Bachelor level minimum

• A completed education in a relevant field (Corporate finance or equivalent)

• Knowledge of Italian tax and financial reporting requirements.

• Solid knowledge and experience with SAP is a strong plus

• Experience in a medium-sized and growing organization is a plus

• Experience in chartered accountant office is a strong plus

• Excellent command of Italian, and a good command of English is required.
