Field Support Services Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Field Support Services Technician to join our team, providing onsite technical support for a variety of retail and back-office IT systems. In this role, you will travel to retail stores and business locations to troubleshoot, repair, install, and configure hardware such as POS systems, networking equipment, security devices, and more. You’ll work hands-on to resolve break-fix issues, support grand openings, and perform system maintenance—ensuring seamless tech functionality and top-tier customer experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Travel daily to retail and non-retail sites to support and restore failed IT equipment.
  • Diagnose, repair, reconfigure, or replace hardware including:
    • POS terminals, receipt printers, handheld scanners, pin pads, and cash drawers
    • Payment processing devices and mobile payment systems
    • Routers, switches, WiFi access points, modems, and hubs
    • CCTV systems, alarm systems, and anti-theft technologies
    • Back-office PCs, printers, and backup systems
  • Perform onsite maintenance, configuration changes, and software updates.
  • Complete work orders/tickets in alignment with defined SLAs.
  • Support special events such as store grand openings and seasonal deployments.
  • Adhere to cabling and installation standards for clean, reliable connectivity.
  • Log work performed and document service details in the ticketing system.
  • Package and ship defective equipment and maintain cleanliness of work areas.
  • Follow all site access protocols, including proper credentials and authorization.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in IT (or equivalent experience).
  • 1+ year experience in field support within a retail store environment.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in PC hardware/software troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with POS systems, peripherals, and common retail devices.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts and device configurations.
  • Ability to support a wide range of devices including iPads, tablets, and smartphones.
  • Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and customer service skills.
  • Strong communication and ability to work independently in the field.
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving history and willingness to travel.
