This is a position with grade 15.

This position reports to Service Team Leader.

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will execute service work—installation, commissioning, maintenance, upgrades, and retrofits—according to work instructions and in accordance with ABB processes, standards, and safety guidelines. You will be part of the Motion Traction Service team and work on traction and auxiliary converters and battery chargers. You will deliver excellent customer service by meeting customers’ needs while maintaining good relationships. You will work with others to identify new service business opportunities, helping to convince clients to take the complete service portfolio. The work model for this role is: This role contributes to the Motion Traction division, located in Genoa, Italy. You will be mainly accountable for:

  1. Providing technical support and solving problems in your expertise area via remote or on-site service in any Service category (installation and commissioning; maintenance; repairs; engineering and consulting; advanced services; extensions, upgrades, and retrofits; end-of-life services, replacements, etc.).
  2. Coordinating, preparing, and ensuring that all materials, parts, and equipment are available and of appropriate quality.
  3. Preparing standard lists, documents, and reports to be signed by the customer.
  4. Reporting work done in a timely manner and following up when needed.
  5. Identifying potential equipment failures and taking corrective actions, troubleshooting complex equipment failures, and making recommendations to prevent future issues.
  6. Making suggestions for product, quality, and customer service improvements, and discussing them with management.
  7. Ensuring that Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) practices are of high standard, working to eliminate unsafe practices and incidents.
  8. Consistently applying functional processes while considering links to other teams.
Qualifications for the Role
  1. Strong knowledge of static converters, ideally in railway rolling stock applications.
  2. At least 3 years of experience in field engineering or commissioning.
  3. Enhanced knowledge of static converters (DC/DC, inverters, battery chargers) based on IGBT/MOSFET, and familiarity with ABB platform components for the Traction division (PEC, PEBB).
  4. Passionate about a collaborative, solution-focused approach with strong written and spoken communication skills.
  5. Technical diploma or engineering degree in electrical or electronic fields.
  6. Proficiency in English and Italian, both written and spoken.
