Hitachi Rail is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated Maintenance Field Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will perform tasks ranging from statistical analysis of maintenance data to deep train system knowledge. This position is based in Naples, Italy.

Accountabilities:
- Ensure RAM data collection during vehicle service operations, defining data structure per contractual requirements.
- Support Vehicle Management and control configuration changes, maintaining traceability of vehicle status and creating the Maintained Configuration.
- Manage infrastructure systems (e.g., MRX PanMon Gotcha) to ensure notifications and alerts are received, utilizing data for condition-based maintenance.
- Provide performance analysis and improvement recommendations for stakeholders related to engineering support IT systems.
- Support Bid & Proposal activities, including defining budgets for new initiatives.
- Update spare parts lists based on maintenance plans, RAM analyses, and operational experience.
- Conduct Level of Repair Analysis (LORA) to define cost-effective corrective maintenance, providing feedback to design and standards teams.
- Assist in troubleshooting maintenance operations and analyzing technical issues for corrective actions.
- Develop technical specifications for depot tools, coordinate design reviews, installation, testing, and commissioning.
- Provide training to team members and customers as needed, supported by Standards & Training.
- Perform failure analysis for extra-warranty cases, manage warranties with suppliers, and validate/update maintenance manuals.
- Propose and develop improvements in maintenance activities and tools.
- Apply knowledge in vehicle remote diagnostics and data validation.
- Report maintenance, safety defects, operational events, and failures.
- Present operational data (RAM data) to customers.
- Develop technical documentation for workshops, ensuring safety compliance.
- Implement and support maintenance plans during commissioning and at external sites.
- Support project activities through on-field analysis, including standards development and continuous improvement programs.
- Assist in procurement and supplier assessments, ensuring engineering and quality standards are met.
- Support quality control by reporting failures, assessing reparability, and safety risks.
Required Skills / Knowledge:
- Minimum 3 years' experience in railway vehicle maintenance engineering.
- Experience in maintenance planning, troubleshooting, and RAMS analysis.
- Ability to diagnose vehicle systems, interpret specifications, and read schematics.
- Willingness to travel short trips (typically a few days).
Desired Skills / Knowledge:
- Experience in railway fleet maintenance engineering.
- Knowledge of train subsystems (ATS, telecommunication, pneumatics, traction, HVAC, etc.).
- Reviewing maintenance documentation, software configuration management, wheel set parameters, statistical analysis, ECM projects, signaling principles, SAP, and spare parts analysis.
Education / Qualifications:
Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Mechatronic Engineering, or equivalent.
