Tasks

3Brain is seeking an on-site, full-time Field Application Scientist for its Italian office in Genova. The role involves supporting customer activities by addressing technical and experimental questions, analyzing results statistically, and developing cell assay protocols. The candidate will provide scientific and technical support, focusing on data analysis and experimental activities. They will work at the interface of science, technology, and sales, collaborating closely with customers, and will perform product testing and validation, explore new biological models, and participate in R&D activities.

Main responsibilities include:

• Developing extensive knowledge of 3Brain’s products and applications.
• Gathering customer feedback and ensuring satisfaction through follow-up.
• Providing remote and on-site scientific consulting and technical support globally.
• Conducting laboratory experiments such as dissection of animals (e.g., mouse, rat) for cell culture preparation.
• Working with human and non-human stem cells and maintaining cell cultures.
• Processing experimental data, performing statistical analyses, and preparing reports.
• Testing diverse cell preparations and models on 3Brain’s devices.
• Collaborating with Sales and Marketing to align scientific support with business goals.
• Supporting hardware and software teams in validating prototypes with biological models.
• Attending conferences, congresses, and trade shows.
• Creating scientific content for posters, papers, and application notes.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• PhD in neuroscience, neurobiology, biomedical engineering, or biomedical sciences.
• Knowledge of electrophysiology and common in-vitro neurobiology tools.
• Experience with statistical analysis tools.
• Proficiency in Windows environment.
• Full professional proficiency (C1 level) or native fluency in English.
• Effective communication skills for diverse audiences.
• Self-motivated problem solver.

Additional Qualifications:

• Experience with microelectrode arrays (MEA), calcium imaging, or patch-clamp recordings.
• Experience preparing cell cultures from continuous lines or cryogenic material.
• Strong molecular and neuroscientific background.
• At least 1 year of lab experience with cell-based assays for compound screening.
• Motivated by building innovative technologies to help others.
