A leading power solutions provider is seeking a Field Application Engineer (FAE) to support its innovative power solutions across automotive, industrial, and aerospace markets. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in analog circuit design and at least 5 years of relevant experience. This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively present technical solutions to clients. Occasional travel will be involved for customer visits and technical seminars.

Competenze

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in analog/power supply design or applications engineering.

  • Fluent in English and Italian, both written and spoken.

About Vicor : Vicor Corporation designs, manufactures, and markets modular power components and complete power systems used in aerospace and defense electronics, enterprise and high-performance computing, industrial equipment and automation, telecommunications and network infrastructure, and vehicles and transportation markets. Vicor is expanding into the Automotive Industry, focusing on developing solutions for mild hybrid, EV / HEV, and autonomous vehicles. We are creating new business opportunities and partnerships with tier ones and OEMs, utilizing high-voltage to 48V architectures and 48V to 12V systems to meet electrification trends, emphasizing higher efficiency, high power density, lower cost, lighter weight, and enhanced vehicle performance.

Position : The primary responsibility of the FAE (Field Application Engineer) is to support Vicor's power solutions across various market segments, including:

  • Automotive
  • Industrial
  • Aerospace & Defense
  • High Performance Computing

This role involves coordination with Business Development Managers, Account Managers, and internal partners. Responsibilities include providing pre- and post-sales technical support, such as product selection tailored to customer applications, product introduction, DIN assistance from electrical, mechanical, and thermal perspectives, and troubleshooting customer systems as needed.

Job Tasks include:

  • Communicating technology, power architectures, and product positioning to both technical and business audiences
  • Business and relationship development, focusing on direct customer engagement and channel partner collaboration
  • Capturing technical requirements and system architecture details, acting as a liaison to Product Line Engineers
  • Building and maintaining strong customer relationships throughout the sales cycle
  • Reviewing schematics and supporting existing customer projects
  • Handling incoming technical inquiries via phone and email
  • Conducting customer visits (30-50% travel)
  • Preparing and delivering technical seminars and conferences
  • Providing product training to customers
  • Assisting with hands-on product evaluations in the lab
  • Supporting channel demand creation by qualifying new opportunities and increasing design wins
  • Visiting channel customers and distribution offices for technical support and training

Qualifications and Attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of experience in analog/power supply design or applications engineering
  • Experience in the automotive market preferred
  • Electronics technician skills
  • Strong understanding of analog circuit design
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience working with distribution partners
  • Self-motivated, hardworking, results-oriented, and problem-solving mindset
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to present effectively
  • Ability to balance short-term goals with long-term development
  • Business acumen
  • Fluent in English and Italian, both written and spoken
  • Computer literacy, including CRM systems like Salesforce
  • Valid driver’s license
