FBK is looking for a Technologist Position on characterization analyses in particular for Silicon, SiC and other wide bandgap semiconductors; this position is partially funded by National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).
FBK is a research institution devoted to excellence in research in numerous disciplines and is designated to the role of keeping the Autonomous Province of Trento in the mainstream of European and international research. Each research area is assigned to a specific research Centre, of which there are eleven totals. In particular, the FBK Centre for Sensors and Devices (FBK-SD) ( https://www.fbk.eu/en/sensors-devices/ ) is an applied research centre that operates in the following scientific and technological areas: quantum technologies, detectors, microsystems and integrated systems. The FBK-SD has extremely advanced technical know-how in innovative device design and fabrication technologies as material and device characterization. The strategic mission of the FBK-SD is scientific excellence combined with the ability to exploit research results. The innovation model is open to collaboration in national and international expertise networks.
Workplace Description
The available position is in the Materials and Topologies for Sensors and Devices (MTSD) Unit of FBK-SD. Among other tasks, MTSD carries out R&D and Service activities based on spectroscopy and spectrometry characterization, silicon devices and in wide band gap semiconductors to develop – also quantum - optical devices. The activities are carried out in strict collaboration with the nanofabrication, the integrated photonics, and the superconductive teams of FBK-SD. MTSD is active on several projects focused on photon-based quantum, superconductive device sensor materials and nano technologies.
Background information and description of research projects
This position is offered within the IPCEI ME/CT project.
In the IPCEI ME/CT project, FBK intends to significantly expand and improve its manufacturing and integration facilities to achieve high-level and reliable heterogeneous production capabilities to maximize research and competitiveness in the market. In IPCEI ME 1, FBK is developing the 3D integration platform for SiPM and SPAD technologies. Exploiting the results of IPCEI ME 1, the project will mainly work on integrating new materials (Silicon Carbide & Germanium-on-Silicon) and hetero-integration to extend the capabilities of already established silicon platforms. One development of the SiC-based material platform will also focus on the development, fabrication and characterization of devices based on wide-band gap semiconductors.

FBK-SD is looking for a dynamic and independent technologist to work on characterization analytical equipment.. The position requires the ability to work with various analytical instruments and directly contribute to their management. These techniques include X-ray Photoemission Spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (SIMS), and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), Raman spectroscopy.
Close collaboration with other units within the centre is expected, both in terms of service and research support. The candidate is expected to have prior experience with at least one or more of the above-mentioned techniques and to contribute to research and service activities actively.
The selected candidate will work in a multidisciplinary team and be engaged in dissemination, networking and project writing tasks.

Selection process and assessment criteria
The Evaluating Committee will be appointed by the HR Director at the end of the application deadline. Evaluation criteria
The recruitment process will be based on the total points obtained by the evaluation of the qualifications/ expertise and the evaluation of the interview. A maximum o f 40 points will be allocated for qualifications and expertise that the candidate expresses on the resume, while the interview will be worth up to 60 points. The interview scores will be assigned to candidates by the Commission according to the following criteria: the presentation of their research profile; the knowledge about the scientific domain, the experience in working for research projects and the language skills . Only candidates obtaining at least 25 points in the evaluation of the qualifications and the expertise will be admitted for the interview. The interview is considered as “passed” if the applicant obtains at least 45 points. The final score will be used to generate the final suitability list for each job position .
Results of the selection process
All candidates will be notified via email once the selection process has been completed. The suitability list may be used to fill the position in case the successful candidate doesn’t accept the job offer.
