NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, cerca due figure motivate come Assistant del Laboratorio di Moda e Specialista del Laboratorio Tessile per supportare le attività didattiche nel rispetto delle normative di salute e sicurezza. Le figure selezionate gestiranno le attività di laboratorio, monitoreranno i materiali e forniranno supporto tecnico agli studenti e ai docenti, contribuendo così all'ottimizzazione delle procedure didattiche.

Competenze

  • Preferibile esperienza di 2/3 anni come assistente nel laboratorio in ambiente accademico o in aziende multinazionali.
  • Fluente in italiano e ottimo inglese richiesti.

Mansioni

  • Gestire il calendario delle ore di laboratorio e le attività didattiche.
  • Fornire supporto tecnico a studenti e insegnanti in tecniche tessili.
  • Gestire la fornitura e lo stoccaggio dei materiali necessari per le attività didattiche.

NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, is an education Academy focusing on arts and design: it is the largest private Academy in Italy, and the first one to have been recognized by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR), back in 1980. As a recognized Academy, NABA offers academic diplomas equivalent to first and second level university degrees in the fields of design, fashion, graphics and communication, multimedia arts, set design, and visual arts.

NABA is currently seeking 2 motivated individuals for the role of

1 Fashion and Textile Laboratory Assistant and 1 Textile Laboratory Specialist

The successful candidates will join the Fashion and Textile Laboratories team in Rome. Reporting directly to the Fashion and Textile Laboratories Supervisor, he/she will provide support to guarantee the didactic activities of the courses/ programs, in compliance with health and safety regulations; additionally, he/she will ensure the supply of materials and equipment and contribute to optimization of activities in order to improve the quality and technological innovation.

The selected candidates will carry out the following activities:

  • Schedule the laboratory hours, especially the free lab sessions, according to the academic calendar in agreement with the supervisor.
  • Provide appropriate information on the equipment availability of laboratories (in relation to the didactic needs); assure and supports the team for end-of-course activities (fashion show) and for events and promotional activities (Open days, welcoming of students, etc.).
  • Manage the procurement process for materials and consumables needed for teaching activities in coordination with the supervisor
  • Ensure the monitoring of material in stock and their correct disposal (loading and unloading of materials, space management, inventories).
  • Guaranteeactivities of ordinary and extraordinary maintenance of equipment, ensures management of the procurement process for new equipment within the assigned budget
  • Ensure the implementation of policies and procedures set by Laboratories Head in order to guarantee a safety work environment in laboratories in compliance with regulatory law; ensure the correct disposal of waste products from laboratory activities.
  • Guarantee technical support to students and teachers in fabric construction techniques (use of the rigid heddle loom, basic types of weaving, felting); in fabric painting techniques; in dyeing techniques (in the tub and in the washing machine, preparation of dyes, preparation of mordant for natural dyeing, batik) and in printing techniques (stencil engraving, printing module report, pigment preparation, screen printing, use of the press, flock printing, foil, transfer, devorè).
  • Assure also support for decorating techniques (embroidery, sewing, needling) and the handling ones (use of the hot gun) - use of the winder, use of the spinning wheel, use of the card. In charge of research for the development of new samples, new materials, new techniques in order to improve the performance of the fabric laboratory.
  • Execute the manual creation of: deka dyeing, weaving, prints, manipulations, textile colours. Create specific workspaces and consultation areas such as weaving workshop and textile library.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma or Degree in fashion and textile design or equivalent, High School Diploma or Degree in Fashion Design or equivalent, preferably with a previous experience of 2/3 years as laboratory assistant in academic environment or in fashion/textile department of multinational company.

He/She has special attention to detail. Flexible person with well-developed organizational and planning skills, problem solving attitude, customer orientation. Fluent Italian and very good English are key.
