Job summary

Regional School District #10 is seeking an Extended Leave Substitute General Education Paraeducator at Lake Garda Elementary School. The role supports teachers by assisting with reading and pre-reading activities and by working with individuals or small groups.

It also involves supervising students during non-classroom times such as lunch and recess and while teachers are in meetings. Starting immediately, the position pays $125 per day, with 5.5 hours per day, through about 12/23/2026.

Our general education paraprofessionalsassistteachers in general daily classroom activities. They work with individual students or small groups to support reading and pre-reading skills. They also supervise students during non-classroom time such as lunch or recess. Additionally, general education paras may supervise classes of students while teachers are at meetings. Paraeducatorshave the unique opportunity to contribute to positive educational outcomes by working as part of the outstanding team dedicated to educating our students.

Location: Lake Garda Elementary School

Nestled in the hills of Northwestern CT, Region 10 serves the towns of Harwinton and Burlington and is bordered by Farmington, Bristol, Litchfield, and Torrington. Our communities have many offerings contributing to work/life balance and convenience for daily life.

Starting Date: Immediately

Wage: $125/day

Benefits:

• Paid sick time is in accordance with CT Paid Sick Leave, General Statute 31-57r
• 31-57w, equal to 40 hours per year.

Schedule: 5.5 hours per day until (on or about) 12/23/2026

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent plus
• Two years of college credit OR

Pass a paraeducator assessment (Para Pro)
