We have a vacancy for Executive Director - Molecule Lead, Oncology - Client Delivery Unit (Clinical Trials).
Position REQUIRES experience working in a CRO setting as well as Clinical Drug Development experience from early phase through commercialization and beyond with an emphasis in Oncology indications. Candidates who also have Pharma/Biotech experience are preferred.
The Molecule Lead, Client Delivery Unit, provides strategic direction, leadership and management, responsible for delivery and growth of a book of work (e.g. molecule/asset/therapeutic area) within the Client Sourcing Model, from early phase through to commercialization and across the clinical drug development spectrum. Has a critical focus on maximising revenue, minimising operating margins, whilst ensuring quality and exceeding client satisfaction by on time delivery and execution. Partners with colleagues within Project Delivery, FSP, Business Development at the enterprise level and alliance management and with Executive leadership to build and deliver studies/programs within the Client delivery Unit
Potential for role expansion as book of work grows with increasing responsibility and span of control. This role will be 50% billable and is required to be based in NA or Western Europe aligned with key client leadership.
Essential Functions:
Engage with and develop effective working relationships with client leadership counterparts
Will involve periodic F2F meetings at applicable client business unit, cadence driven by portfolio activity
Drives delivery through innovation with out of the box thinking and entrepreneurial leadership
Leverages clinical drug development expertise and participates in scientific and operational engagements with clients' leadership teams to contribute to product/asset development strategy & study execution from early phase through to commercialization.
Provides thought leadership to operating model optimization, as applicable
Effectively translates therapeutic strategy expertise into operational strategy with empowerment to make decisions
Leverages pipeline information & deploys strategic vision to drive proactive portfolio delivery acceleration, reducing white space
Keeps optimal relationships with key partners and stakeholders
Works with leadership on the continuous development/improvement of business processes to support delivery within the Client Delivery Unit.
Ensures optimal performance & delivery within book of work (e.g. molecule/asset/therapeutic area):
Supports achievement of milestones & deliverables
Ensures implementation/management of book of work in line with applicable operating model
Drives consistency across book of work leveraging best practices, efficiencies, processes and lessons learned and drive communication across Client & PPD project teams
Provides proactive feedback on risks/issues, financials, metrics to PPD Client Delivery Unit Head as applicable.
Resolves issues not able to be addressed by study team,and leverages unresolved issues through governance structure as per the approved escalation pathways, with emphasis on resolving at the lowest functional level possible.
Participates in governance structure as appropriate for level within partnership
Will perform Oversight Director role within the partnership
Drives internal resourcing and partners with functional leadership to ensure appropriate resource availability supporting a mixed resourcing model
Acts as key escalation point of contact for a client. Guides the team to identify and solution problems encountered and proposes strategies for prevention or correction
Ensures project risks and potential contingencies impacting time/quality/cost of deliverables are discussed with Senior Management through appropriate escalation pathways.
Leads, develops and provides coaching to the project team in cooperation with leadership team as required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strategic Executive Director with proven track record of project delivery in large accounts and partnerships
Clinical drug development experience
Therapeutic experience
Leadership ability to strategically support a business through rapid growth and/or change
Strategic vision & leadership with ability to weigh short and long term decisions
Strong financial acumen, knowledge of budgeting, forecasting and resource management
Executive presence with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, relationship builder who is able to work effectively in matrix organizations
Effective organizational and negotiation skills, problem-solving ability, demonstration of ambiguity and leadership agility in a dynamic environment
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree or licensed certified health care training or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the individual with the required knowledge, skills and abilities
15 years+ of clinical trials experience with a history of successfully developing/operationalizing strategic drug development plans in one or more therapeutic areas, including Oncology. At least 4 years of clinical program leadership.
Proven experience developing and managing the budgets and resources of a segment of the business
Or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the individual with the required knowledge, skills and abilities
