ESTIMATOR - COMMERCIAL
Job Description
Summary: To work with the Estimating and Project Management Teams to secure profitable work for the company. The successful candidate will have significant estimating and quantity take-off experience for site work, paving, concrete, and underground utilities related to institutional, commercial, and industrial construction projects. Prior experience with civil construction subcontractors, significant individual-performance, and AGTEK estimating software proficiency is strongly preferred.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Understand and analyze detailed bid specifications, schematics, and drawings.
- Prepare accurate estimates/packages for projects.
- Assist Operations with scheduling, job layout, and change order preparation.
- Track progress of multiple bids and bid results.
- Oversee and manage change orders during project progression.
- Oversee and manage project closeouts at completion.
- Deliver accurate and timely estimates/bid proposals to clients.
- Maintain positive relations with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Communicate effectively with other departments and team members.
- Some local travel to review bids and inspect current conditions at job sites.
Requirements:
- Five to seven years' experience in construction within an individual-performance environment.
- Some college-level construction management study.
- Proficient knowledge of earthwork, underground utilities, concrete, and asphalt.
- Experience with estimating and design software (B2W, AGTEK, AutoCad, PlanSwift).
- General knowledge of construction equipment applications.
- Create and maintain relationships with colleagues, clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Must possess strong verbal, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Work with peers in a team environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of geotechnical skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and strong computer skills.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus.
- Valid Driver's License.
