ERASMUS+ INTERNSHIP in COMPUTATIONAL SCIENCES - Deep Learning models for automatic writer/hand identification

Italy

Commitment & contract: Full-time internship within the Erasmus+ Traineeship programme for undergraduate students enrolled in a master’s degree programme; the position requires a time commitment of 40 hours/week (full time).

Location: Center for Cultural Heritage Technology, Roncade (Treviso), Italy

Duration: 6 months

Start date: 15/01/2027 (flexible)

Compensation: No salary granted by IIT (applicants must rely on funding from their University’s Erasmus+ programme)

THE ROLE

During your internship you will work on a project in the Cultural Heritage Technologies ( https://www.iit.it/it/web/cultural-heritage-technologies ) group, coordinated by Arianna Traviglia. This group focuses on Cultural Heritage Technologies: Automatic Document Analysis.

Your activity will comprise

• State-of-the-art models report preparation
• Data understanding
• Software development of automatic writer/hand identification

And will allow you to develop competences in

• Software management (e.g., Git use)
• Data preparation to train Deep Learning models
• Use of PyTorch and/or HuggingFace

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• To be registered as a student in an undergraduate master’s degree programme in Computer engineering, Computer Science or a cognate fieldofstudy for the entire duration of your stay at IIT
• To have a good command of spoken and written English
• To rely on funding from your University’s Erasmus+ programme
