A global construction company is seeking a Site Equipment Manager to oversee maintenance and operational readiness of construction machinery. The role involves managing preventive and corrective maintenance, supervising technicians, and ensuring compliance with safety standards across projects. The ideal candidate will have a diploma in Mechanical Engineering and at least 10 years of experience in managing heavy equipment maintenance for large infrastructure projects. About the Role

The Site Equipment Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, reliability, and operational readiness of all construction machinery and equipment used on specific projects. The role focuses on preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure safe, continuous, and efficient operation of equipment supporting major civil, guideway, station, and systems construction activities.

We are hiring in Milan (Italy), Castelfranco Veneto (Italy) or globally, at worldwide level. This is a job requiring international assignments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs for all construction equipment on the project.
  • Ensure all machinery and equipment are maintained in accordance with manufacturer specifications, project requirements, and applicable safety regulations.
  • Monitor equipment condition, utilization, and performance to maximize availability and minimize downtime.
  • Supervise and coordinate mechanics, technicians, and equipment maintenance personnel across multiple work zones.
  • Plan and schedule maintenance activities in coordination with construction teams to avoid disruption to critical project activities.
  • Conduct routine equipment inspections and ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and project standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance, breakdowns, repairs, inspections, and certifications.
  • Manage spare parts, tools, consumables, and maintenance inventory for the project.
  • Investigate equipment-related incidents, failures, and near misses; prepare reports and implement corrective actions.
  • Liaise with equipment suppliers, service contractors, and vendors for specialized maintenance and technical support.
  • Support equipment mobilization and demobilization activities, including readiness inspections and acceptance checks.
  • Ensure compliance with project safety plans, lockout/tagout procedures, and equipment operating protocols.
  • Provide technical input to project management regarding equipment performance, replacement needs, and maintenance costs.
Equipment Scope (Typical)
  • Lifting equipment (launching gantries, cranes, hoists, MEWPs)
  • Concrete and civil works equipment (batching plants, pumps, compactors)
  • Generators, compressors, and temporary power equipment
Qualifications and Experience
  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience managing construction equipment maintenance on large infrastructure or transit projects.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy equipment maintenance, diagnostics, and reliability practices.
  • Familiarity with construction safety standards and project-based maintenance systems is an asset.
