Job Description:

At ERM, sustainability is our business.

As the world’s largest advisory firm focused solely on sustainability, we offer unparalleled expertise across business and finance.

ERM partners with clients to operationalise sustainability at pace and scale, leveraging our unique combination of strategic transformation and technical delivery capabilities.

Our diverse global team of experts collaborates with the world’s leading organizations to set clear sustainability targets, measure progress, and implement strategies through deep operationalization and business transformation.

With more than 50 years of experience, our ability to integrate sustainability solutions and our extensive technical knowledge are why organizations choose us as their trusted advisor.

The Role:

ERM Italy is seeking a motivated Consultant with a passion for sustainability to join our growing Liability Portfolio Management and Remediation Team in Italy.

ERM’s LPMR Service supports clients in managing environmental liabilities and maximizing the value of their contaminated land challenges. We develop risk-based soil and groundwater remediation strategies that prioritize human health and environmental protection while aligning with our clients' business goals and regulatory requirements. Our comprehensive services, which span site investigation, risk assessment, remediation, and redevelopment strategies, help clients optimize the value of their active facilities and discontinued operations, bolstered by decommissioning and demolition support when necessary.

The role will be a mix of on-site and desk work. Our offices are based in Milan, and we expect the consultant to be able to travel and be in the office when needed, although we offer flexible working arrangements as well.

Responsibilities:
  • Preparation, management, and execution of environmental field work in contaminated sites’ investigation and remediation projects.
  • Conduct field work, including groundwater, soil, soil vapor, air, sediment, and surface water sampling, soil logging, and remediation performance monitoring.
  • Oversee subcontractors during soil drilling and installation, operations, and maintenance of remediation systems.
  • Manage environmental data quality control, interpretation, visualization, and reporting.
  • Focus on project delivery, supporting the project managers. Work within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments.
  • Communicate with all project stakeholders: colleagues, subcontractors, laboratories, regulatory agents, tenants, and clients during project preparation and field activities.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical proposals and cost estimates.
Technical skills required:
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in an environmental discipline such as earth sciences, environmental sciences, hydrology/hydrogeology, geology, geochemistry, or environmental engineering.
  • Fluency in Italian and English, both spoken and written. Working knowledge of another language will be considered a plus.
  • Experience as an environmental consultant and field manager/field technician.
  • Knowledge of Italian environmental legislation, especially concerning Contaminated Sites Regulation.
  • Motivated for field work, and willingness to travel primarily within Italy.
Other skills:
  • Proactive and detail-oriented with pragmatic aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting/problem-solving skills.
  • Team player with the ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, and work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Effective organization and analytical skills, and good communication skills both verbal and through written technical reports.
  • Strong commitment to health & safety, including following established health & safety protocols.
  • Knowledge of GIS software and data management tools will be considered a plus.
To Apply:

At ERM, we are committed to building an inclusive culture by identifying, acquiring, developing, and retaining a highly skilled, high-performing workforce that reflects the diverse global marketplace in which we operate. We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds, regardless of gender, ethnicity, religious preference, sexual orientation, physical attributes, or educational background.
