Job summary

Baker Hughes is seeking an Engineer 1, Mechanical, Product Design and Engineering in Italy to design centrifugal compressors, develop NX 3D models, and manage BOMs in Teamcenter. You’ll contribute to the full engineering lifecycle from concept to manufacturing support.

You will apply vibration and rotor dynamic analysis, GD&T and Ansys Mechanical familiarity. A Master’s in Mechanical Engineering and strong communication in English are required.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Experience with vibration analysis, rotor dynamics and compressor performance.
• Familiarity with static and modal analysis in Ansys Mechanical.
• Knowledge of GD&T, drafting practices and main manufacturing technologies.
• Knowledge of Unigraphics NX and TeamCenter database.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently in a global, multicultural environment.
• Good communication and teamwork.
• Proficiency in English (spoken and written).

Responsibilities

• Design activities for centrifugal compressors from concept to drawings and BOM management.

• Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and manage documentation in Teamcenter.

Partner with the best

The candidate will be responsible for design activities on our compressor and turboexpander products. He/she will be involved throughout the entire engineering lifecycle, from concept development and detailed design to manufacturing support, testing, and site installation activities. The role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure that all products meet the highest standards of performance, reliability, safety, and quality.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

• Participating in the full design cycle of centrifugal compressors, from concept to drawings and BOM management.
• Developing 3D CAD models using Unigraphics NX and generate/review machining drawings following company drafting standards.
• Creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs) and ensuring all documentation is properly managed within Teamcenter.
• Contributing to continuous improvement through lessons learned and support Design for Manufacturing/Sourcing initiatives.
• Ensuring that all engineering activities meet quality, safety, and environmental standards and follow internal processes.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Master’s Degree (5 years) in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited university or college.
• Experience with vibration analysis, rotor dynamic analysis and general compressor performance.
• Familiarity with static and modal analysis with Ansys Mechanical.
• Knowledge of geometric and dimensional tolerancing (GD&T), drafting practices and main manufacturing technologies.
• Knowledge of Parametric CAD tool (Unigraphics NX) and TeamCenter database.
• Robust analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and comfortably in a global multicultural environment.
• Team player attitude and inclusiveness, combined with good communication skills.
• Proficiency with English (spoken and written).

For Italy: The initial pay range for this position will be EUR 38,605 To 59,000. “The provisions of Contratto Collettivo Industria Metalmeccanica e della installazione di impianti will be applied to this position. Section VI – Titolo IV of that collective bargaining agreement relates to pay”.
