Job summary

Baker Hughes is seeking an Engineer 1, Mechanical, Product Design and Engineering in Italy to join our Industrial & Energy Technology team. You will drive design activities for centrifugal compressors and turboexpander products, from concept through detailed design to manufacturing support and site installation.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure performance, reliability, safety, and quality, while complying with internal processes and industry standards.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree (5 years) in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Experience with vibration analysis, rotor dynamics and compressor performance.
• Familiarity with static and modal analysis with Ansys Mechanical.
• Knowledge of GD&T and drafting practices.
• Knowledge of Parametric CAD tools and TeamCenter.

Responsibilities

• Participate in full design cycle of centrifugal compressors, from concept to drawings and BOM management.
• Develop 3D CAD models and generate/review machining drawings per standards.
• Create and maintain BOMs and manage documentation in Teamcenter.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and DFx initiatives.
• Ensure engineering activities meet quality, safety, and environmental standards.

Partner with the best

The candidate will be responsible for design activities on our compressor and turboexpander products. He/she will be involved throughout the entire engineering lifecycle, from concept development and detailed design to manufacturing support, testing, and site installation activities. The role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure that all products meet the highest standards of performance, reliability, safety, and quality.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

• Participating in the full design cycle of centrifugal compressors, from concept to drawings and BOM management.
• Developing 3D CAD models using Unigraphics NX and generate/review machining drawings following company drafting standards.
• Creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs) and ensuring all documentation is properly managed within Teamcenter.
• Contributing to continuous improvement through lessons learned and support Design for Manufacturing/Sourcing initiatives.
• Ensuring that all engineering activities meet quality, safety, and environmental standards and follow internal processes.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Master’s Degree (5 years) in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited university or college.
• Experience with vibration analysis, rotor dynamic analysis and general compressor performance.
• Familiarity with static and modal analysis with Ansys Mechanical.
• Knowledge of geometric and dimensional tolerancing (GD&T), drafting practices and main manufacturing technologies.
• Knowledge of Parametric CAD tool (Unigraphics NX) and TeamCenter database.
• Robust analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and comfortably in a global multicultural environment.
• Team player attitude and inclusiveness, combined with good communication skills.
• Proficiency with English (spoken and written).

For Italy: The initial pay range for this position will be EUR 38,605 To 59,000.

"The provisions of Contratto Collettivo Industria Metalmeccanica e della installazione di impianti will be applied to this position. Section VI – Titolo IV of that collective bargaining agreement relates to pay".
