Job Description

Description: Engineers accurate shop drawings for production fabrication. Shop drawings are primarily created using, but not limited to, AutoCAD. Proactive in researching and experimenting with new CAD technology and software. Works with Sales, Estimating, Project Management, and Clients to obtain project objectives. Visits jobsites to measure and gather relevant information and tracks project correspondence in Sage 300.

Supervisor: VP of Production Operations

Essential Functions:

• Quality control
• Shop drawings
• Material and parts lists
• Signoffs & As-Builts
• Field measurements

Duties and Requirements:

• Interface with project management/sales throughout the product development cycle to ensure design concepts meet client needs and production drawings arrive on time.
• Provide project management and sales with project status updates, correspondence, and reports using Sage 300 Project Management.
• Update and maintain Sage 300 Drawing Log and drawing files on the company share folder.
• Participate in pre-production meetings with Estimating and Project Management to ensure designs reflect estimated construction methods.
• Create drawings to meet customer needs while maintaining budget consciousness.
• Build and maintain confidence by exposing oneself to best practices and new materials with CAD/CAM technologies.
• Maintain the company CAD database and archive historical data.
• Remain objective and proactive, follow business priorities, and manage quality initiatives during estimating phases.
• Follow metrics and reporting mechanisms to evaluate operational effectiveness.
• Prepare quarterly reports on developments in areas of responsibility.
• Identify and eliminate non-value-added activities, working with Operations Management to implement corrective actions via EOS and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to problem-solving efforts to improve quality and reduce costs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Qualifications & Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• 4-year degree in drafting or related field
• 5+ years experience in the custom woodworking industry
• Strong computer skills including AutoCAD, Windows applications, Microsoft Office, and Sage 300
• Strong statistical and mathematical aptitude and a solid understanding of English communication

Other Qualifications

Possession of a valid State of Florida Driver License with a clean driving record may be required.
