Role Overview

The Employment Specialist champions fellows and alumni through their career journeys. This position requires a community-focused individual who can deliver effective career readiness training, provide personalized coaching, and organize engaging industry events. The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong drive for results, continuously tracking metrics to improve program outcomes while building meaningful connections between fellows, alumni, and employer partners. This role balances hands-on career guidance with strategic program support to create pathways to professional success. Key goals include achieving 75% engagement and placement for 2024 alumni by end-2025 and delivering Career Readiness training to help reach 65% placement for current fellows. TKH adapts to changing circumstances and priorities, making job expectations dynamic. This description outlines essential functions but does not limit the tasks that may be assigned.

Fellow-Focused Responsibilities (40%)

  • Deliver engaging career readiness curriculum and comprehensive assessments
  • Complete personalized coaching to guide fellows through career planning and job search processes
  • Partner with the Student Success team and instructors to ensure integrated support systems

Alumni-Focused Responsibilities (35%)

  • Deliver industry-focused events and strategic alumni engagement initiatives
  • Conduct ongoing career guidance and professional development opportunities for program graduates
  • Contribute to compelling materials that highlight alumni achievements and career progression

Employer-Focused Responsibilities (15%)

  • Support and communicate with corporate partnerships to establish sustainable hiring pipelines
  • Connect employers and candidates through structured opportunities

Program Support (10%)

  • Collect and record performance metrics to drive continuous program improvement
  • Complete insightful reports and contribute to departmental strategic initiatives

Schedule Requirement

Candidates must be available for the specific weekly events described below for the duration of the program:

  • June to December Thursday Class Time: 5:30 - 9:00 pm PST

The remaining weekly hours are flexible, including a balance of standard workday hours between 9:00am - 5:00pm local time for team meetings and training.

Qualifications

Experience

  • 2+ years experience delivering career development training or workshops
  • 1-3 years providing one-on-one career coaching or a similar advisory role
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Education, HR, Business, Communications)
  • Experience with resume review, interview preparation, and job search guidance
  • Track record of successful relationship-building with employers or external partners
  • Experience engaging with alumni or community-building initiatives
  • Familiarity with job boards, LinkedIn, and other professional networking platforms
  • Proficiency in using CRM or database systems to track interactions and outcomes
  • Experience compiling data and creating reports for program improvement
  • Understanding of workforce development best practices and hiring trends

Skills And Approach To Work

  • Able to deliver engaging career readiness training and one-on-one coaching effectively
  • Computer proficiency, including Google Suite and career services platforms
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to conduct and coordinate multiple tasks and projects under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to produce high-quality work

Compensation

  • $21/hour for an expected 25-hour workweek.
