Descrizione del lavoro

We’re Vorwerk Digitalia , part of Vorwerk Engineering – an innovative and globally recognised team within the Vorwerk Group, renowned for revolutionising home cleaning technology with products like the Kobold Vacuum Cleaner / Robot. At Vorwerk Digitalia, we operate at the core intersection of cloud solutions, middleware integrations, and cutting-edge IoT robotics. Our mission is to deliver seamless, intelligent, and user-friendly connectivity, shaping the future of smart home robotics. As we scale our Middleware capabilities, we seek passionate developers to help us transform how users interact with robotic appliances every day.

Role Overview

We’re looking for a talented Mid-to-Senior Backend Developer with experience in Elixir (or Erlang / Gleam, but willing to learn Elixir) to join our Robot Cloud team. This team is responsible for building and maintaining the backend that connects robots in the field to the rest of the platform, including apps and middleware services. You’ll work on a mission-critical system hosted on AWS, currently transitioning from a large Elixir monolith (Orbital) toward a distributed, microservice-based architecture .

This is a cross-functional and hands-on role : you’ll collaborate with colleagues from mobile, platform, and middleware teams to evolve the system while improving performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.

What You'll Do

  • Maintain, evolve, and refactor backend services written in Elixir (with some parts in Go).
  • Work on scalable systems that handle large volumes of real-time robotic traffic.
  • Design and improve APIs consumed by apps and downstream services.
  • Contribute to the architecture and strategic evolution of the cloud platform.
  • Help ensure robustness, cost-effectiveness, and clean design in production systems.

Who We're Looking For

  • Solid experience with Elixir and OTP (or other BEAM languages such as Erlang, Gleam) in production environments.
  • Comfort with distributed, event-driven architectures and microservices.
  • Familiarity with AWS environments and services like Kinesis, SQS, and ElastiCache.
  • Proficient in working with SQL databases (we use PostgreSQL).
  • Ability to design and troubleshoot robust, high-availability systems.
  • Proactive and self-driven, but collaborative : we value ownership and a team mindset.
  • Fluent in English; excellent written and spoken communication skills.

Why Join Us?

  • You’ll join a small, skilled, and trusted team with a strong collaborative ethos.
  • You'll work on meaningful projects at the intersection of robotics, cloud platforms, and user experience.
  • We offer true flexibility, respect for autonomy, and a culture that values impact over process.
