This position, under general supervision, is responsible for performing standard design and fabrication of electronic equipment, including maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical and electronic systems used in the plant.
Responsibilities
- Builds printed circuit boards and electronic sub-assemblies. Constructs discrete or integrated electronic circuits. Calculates resistance, loads, currents, and component sizes appropriate to the application.
- Assists in the fabrication of electrical and electronic systems and tests final assemblies.
- Performs periodic inspections of all scales, meters, controllers, recorders, and other measuring devices used in production or facility support systems.
- Calibrates instruments for accurate control or recording. Replaces, repairs, and adjusts equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Performs preventive maintenance, inspections, and verifications on all control components.
- Maintains material lists and assists in preparing purchasing requests.
- Modifies and writes logic control programs. Assists in diagnosing electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and similar problems and applies corrective actions.
- Reads and interprets schematic drawings and diagrams for maintenance or installation of plant equipment.
- Performs installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting on electrical and electronic equipment.
- Works with frequency drives, writes drive logic in PLC code, creates HMI applications, uploads/downloads PLC programs and HMI applications, programs ladder logic, integrates new processes, sets up network communications, and manages Ethernet protocols.
- Participates in and completes training to enhance job-related skills as mandated.
- Helps train maintenance staff to keep equipment in good repair and serviced.
- Notifies supervisor of electrical or related problems.
- Performs duties following USDA, company policies, and maintains a clean work area.
- Conducts oneself and ensures subordinates adhere to company values, policies, and standards of conduct.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: Associate's degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience: 1-3 years related experience.
- Skills/Abilities: Advanced electrical and maintenance knowledge. Ability to design electrical and electronic assemblies, read schematics, and work with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and Servos. Proficient with software such as Allen Bradley, Square D, Siemens, Omron, and SAP. Ability to interpret safety and operational documents. Capable of completing work orders and paperwork. Basic math skills for calculations. OSHA training and compliance. Valid forklift license and ability to lift up to 90 lbs.
