Our client, operating in the medical technology and healthcare industry, is seeking an Electronics Engineering Technician II to join their team.

Job Title: Electronics Engineering Technician II

Location: Madison, WI

Pay Range: $23 - $28 per hour

Position Summary:

The Electro-Mechanical Lab Technician will support the Bone and Metabolic Health business unit by building, repairing, modifying, and maintaining X-ray machines and lab equipment. This hands-on role ensures equipment performance, reliability, and compliance with quality and safety standards in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assemble, calibrate, and test X-ray machines (bone densitometers) and related lab equipment.
  2. Troubleshoot and repair electro-mechanical issues to minimize downtime.
  3. Modify and upgrade existing equipment to enhance performance or integrate new technologies.
  4. Perform preventive maintenance and inspections per regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, ISO).
  5. Support engineering teams by prototyping, testing, and validating equipment designs.
  6. Maintain inventory of spare parts, tools, and consumables.
  7. Ensure adherence to all lab safety protocols, including radiation and electrical safety.
  8. Assist with equipment setup for lab experiments, demonstrations, or evaluations.
Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or equivalent in Electro-Mechanical Technology, Electronics, Biomedical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in assembling, troubleshooting, or repairing electro-mechanical systems.
  • Background in medical imaging or lab equipment is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of electrical circuits, control systems, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Proficiency in soldering and PCB component replacement.
  • Experience using diagnostic tools such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and manuals.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and attention to detail skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and interfacing with equipment software.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods in a lab setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with GE Healthcare equipment.
  • Familiarity with X-ray systems, radiation safety protocols, and medical device regulations.
