Job Description:
What you will do
This position will work as an integral part of the European Engineering Center (EEC), an extension of the Global Controls product organization. The position will contribute to the NPI (New Product Introduction) process for new field device products and solutions (actuators, sensors, controllers, etc.), as well as define and implement improvements and customizations of existing products. You will specify and develop, in collaboration with Product Managers and cross-functional teams in the US, India, and China, a successful portfolio targeting the European market. As an individual contributor, you should have a background in HW and FW design for controllers and electronic devices, general knowledge of control systems and methodologies; familiarity with HVAC/BAS systems and related technologies is a plus.
How you will do it
- Lead the technical specification and development of new products HW/FW.
- Design and develop HW/FW for next-generation products, including analog and digital design.
- Provide innovative leadership for product development process improvements, especially in electronic HW/FW development.
- Participate in system development to ensure designs meet requirements and standards (CE, UL, etc.).
- Contribute to evaluating product requirements and constraints.
- Assist in preparing and maintaining project schedules and budgets.
- Lead projects from design through deployment, collaborating with Engineering, Product Management, Quality, Procurement, and Manufacturing teams.
- Handle mechanical design, CAD, electronic control boards, documentation, PLM management, and testing activities in our lab.
- Define product conformance/qualification test plans and criteria, support testing, and resolve issues promptly.
- Analyze and resolve complex hardware/software issues.
- Conduct risk analysis and develop mitigation and contingency plans.
- Generate innovative ideas, contribute to IP development.
EHS:
- Follow all Health & Safety and Environmental requirements as instructed or trained.
- Implement emergency prevention and operational controls.
- Report accidents, occupational illnesses, and emergencies.
Quality:
- Maintain quality standards related to functions.
- Comply with Global Design Process.
What we look for
- Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering.
- At least 5 years of experience in HW/FW embedded microprocessor-based controls, such as industrial automation or HVAC applications.
- Knowledge of embedded microprocessor architectures (ARM Cortex or similar).
- Experience with HW CAD/simulation tools (Mentor Graphics, Altium, Spice).
- Proficiency with electronic test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.).
- Understanding of the entire product development lifecycle.
- Knowledge of European EMC standards/regulations.
- Experience with project investment and product cost estimation, and cost reduction strategies.
- Project management skills and change management familiarity.
- Experience with system integration, communication, and IoT is a plus.
- General knowledge of BAS technologies is a plus.
- Ability to write technical specifications and documentation.
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in multicultural teams.
- Willingness to travel up to 20% abroad.
- Self-motivated, resilient, adaptable, and able to work under minimal supervision.
- Fluent in Italian and English, both spoken and written.
- Proficient with MS Office.
