What to ExpectTesla’s Motor Design team designs and builds bespoke electric motors for various applications. Following our track record in traction motors, the team works towards designing actuators for humanoid bi-pedal robots (Optimus), improving motor modeling accuracy, and developing test plans for performing measurements in the dyno lab. This person will be working as part of the Tesla Motor Technology team located in Athens, Greece, towards improving Powertrain Modeling and System Optimization for the Optimus.

This role is based from our R&D facility in Athens, Greece and relocation would be required.

What You’ll Do
  • Responsible for developing advanced MATLAB functions to model humanoid powertrain performance, contributing to a multi-physics modeling codebase
  • Develop new and enhance existing actuator system optimization functions based on multiple criteria
  • Process big data, select the most compelling actuator candidates and visualize the results
  • Responsible for motor modeling accuracy for Optimus actuators, ensuring alignment with experimental data
What You’ll Bring
  • Studies in Electrical Engineering
  • Several years of relevant experience
  • Strong knowledge of Motor EM Design
  • Very good understanding of electromagnetics and electric circuits
  • Strong mathematical and physics background
  • Strong MATLAB programming skills
  • Fluency in English
  • The following will be considered as plus: Understanding of optimization fundamentals; Power electronics and control fundamentals; Understanding of thermodynamics and heat transfer; Understanding of electrical, thermal and mechanical modeling; Understanding of electrical measurements
