SixteenFifty is a specialist digital and technology talent consultancy, and we are representing a global organisation seeking an experienced Software Asset Manager to support the optimisation and governance of software licensing across their IT landscape.

This role focuses on ensuring software compliance, optimising license usage, and managing relationships with internal stakeholders and third-party vendors.

This is a primarily remote B2B/contract engagement, with occasional travel to Milan required.

The Software Asset Manager will be responsible for:

• Managing day-to-day software license assignments and ensuring compliance with internal processes
• Tracking and maintaining accurate records of software usage and entitlements
• Supporting software audits and vendor negotiations
• Identifying opportunities for cost optimisation and software standardisation across the organisation
• Producing regular reports for senior stakeholders on compliance, utilisation, and improvement actions
• Working with vendors to explore automation opportunities for software management

The ideal candidate will have:

• Solid experience in software asset management or IT service delivery within large, complex environments
• A track record of improving software governance and audit readiness
• Experience managing third-party vendors and outsourced delivery partners
• Familiarity with ITSM frameworks and processes (ITIL Foundation certification preferred)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication abilities
