BIP is seeking an Edge Software Developer to join the IoT Centre of Excellence in Italy. You will develop robust Go-based edge software, implement event-driven microservices, and collaborate with a cross-functional team delivering reliable edge solutions.

The role emphasizes performance, protocol familiarity (MQTT, NATS, Kafka, REST, gRPC, IEC standards), and CI/CD with Gitlab, Docker, and Kubernetes. You will mentor colleagues in a dynamic environment.

Competenze

• Demonstrated experience in Golang, with deep syntax knowledge and standard library usage.
• Experience in designing and implementing microservices; strong containerization and orchestration understanding (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Ability to write concurrent programs with threading, synchronization, and non-blocking I/O.
• Experience writing unit and integration tests; familiarity with profiling and debugging tools.
• Proficiency with version control and CI/CD workflows; knowledge of Gitlab.
• Experience with shell scripting.

What is the challenge we propose to you?

• Develop robust software solutions using the Go programming language and various communication protocols (MQTT, NATS, Kafka, REST, gRPC, IEC 60870-5-104, OPC-UA, Modbus, IEC 61850, LoraWAN)
• Implement event-driven microservices architectures with a focus on performance and reliability in edge computing environments
• Become part of an interfunctional team that has end-to-end responsibility for its work.
• Work in a technologically modern and constantly evolving environment.
• Contribute to technology scouting
• Be the mentor for colleagues

What do we expect?

• Demonstrated experience in Golang, with a deep understanding of syntax, advanced features and standard library. Familiarity with Go routines and channel models, as well as experience in writing high performance Go code.
• Experience in microservices design and implementation; deep understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Ability to write concurrent programs, with a solid knowledge of threading, synchronization and non-blocking I/O.
• Experience writing unit tests and integration tests, and familiarity with performance profiling and debugging tools.
• Proficiency in using code version control tools and familiarity with continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) workflows. Plus the knowledge of Gitlab
• Experience with shell scripting
• Excellent knowledge of the Linux operating system
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development teams and familiarity with other methodologies such as Kanban or Test-Driven Development (TDD).
• Good written and spoken English.
• Plus knowledge of industrial protocols: IEC 60870-5-101 / 104, IEC 61850 MMS/ GOOSE/ SV, ModBUS RTU/ TCP, OPC UA/ DA

What we offer

The expected salary for this position ranges from € 34.000 to € 48.000 gross per year, depending on the candidate's experience, skills, and seniority level.

The contractual level will be defined during the selection process based on the identified profile and in compliance with current regulations and the National Collective Labour Agreement (CCNL) for the Metalworking Industry.

The indicated salary refers exclusively to the Gross Annual Salary (RAL).

The overall package may include additional variable components linked to the achievement of specific individual and/or corporate goals, as well as company welfare and benefits. The final economic offer will be determined based on the characteristics of the selected profile and its alignment with the position's requirements.
