As a software engineer, you’ll be responsible for writing, testing, and preparing software for production. You will also run small PoCs to test concepts and improve our software development processes.

Security is a key requirement at Enigmatic Smile and Fidel API; adherence to PCI and ISO policies is mandatory for all requests and actions.

Enigmatic Smile is a fintech scale-up with Fidel API operating as a standalone unit within the Engineering Team. Fidel API is a distributed team based in Lisboa, Portugal. Our global customer base has diverse requirements, which our platform supports. We aim to enable consumers, retailers, rewards publishers, and banks worldwide to enhance customer experience.

Main requirements

Objectives of this role

• Develop high-quality, scalable, and robust software solutions
• Conduct code reviews, analyze peers’ code submissions, identify issues, and suggest improvements
• Maintain code and application quality, including writing automated tests
• Assist in project planning, solution design, and development decision-making
• Contribute to continuous improvement of technical and process practices within the team
• Ensure security compliance, following PCI DSS and ISO27001 standards
• Own the systems you develop, ensuring their long-term maintainability, scalability, and reliability

Required skills and qualifications

• Proven experience in designing and developing scalable, high-performance software solutions
• Proficiency with Git and GitHub workflows
• Strong knowledge of common programming languages and tools
• Experience with databases, both NoSQL/Document and SQL
• Problem-solving mindset
• Collaborative team spirit

Skills needed by this team

• Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, CloudFormation, DynamoDB, API Gateway, and Step Functions
