IPS is seeking a dynamic Field Service Technician to join our team. In this role, no day will be the same. You'll troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment while delivering top-notch service to our customers. You’ll work alongside some of the best technicians in the industry, utilizing the latest technology tools and equipment. Responsibilities & Expectations:

As a Generator Field Service Technician, you will service, repair, and maintain diesel and gas engine-driven standby generators in the field, helping our residential, commercial, and industrial clients keep their power on.

  • Perform preventative maintenance, including scheduled oil & filter changes, spark plug replacements, and coolant checks.
  • Conduct visual inspections on mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Clean filters, cooling systems, and exterior of units.
  • Perform testing such as load bank, ATS, and functional testing.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to alternators, wiring, switches, switchgear, batteries, and engines.
  • Diagnose failures using multimeters and other tools.
  • Assist with commissioning and start-ups, including design review, testing, and network programming.
  • Work with various brands like Kohler, CAT, Cummins, Generac, and others, up to 2.5 meg.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, explaining issues and resolutions clearly.
  • Complete detailed reports on work performed.
Qualifications and Competencies:

While training is provided, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • Graduation from a technical school related to generators, diesel, or power systems.
  • Experience in generator repair or maintenance is preferred; or equivalent education and experience.
  • Mechanical aptitude can substitute for technical schooling and experience.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • At least 3 years of driving experience with a clean record.
  • Ability to work after hours and be on-call.
  • Ability to read schematics, manuals, and safety guidelines.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in demanding conditions.
