Job Title: Director – Debt Advisory, Infrastructure (Project Finance)

Overview:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced and commercially driven Debt Advisory Director to join a fast-growing infrastructure advisory platform in Milan. The successful candidate will play a key role in originating, structuring, and executing complex debt financing solutions across a wide array of infrastructure sectors including renewable energy, transport, utilities, and social infrastructure.

This is a senior position requiring deep technical expertise in project finance, a strong understanding of the debt market (banks and funds), a proactive approach to business development, and proven leadership capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Origination & Business Development
2. Identify and pursue new business opportunities in infrastructure project finance debt advisory.
3. Build and maintain strong client relationships with sponsors, developers, and financial institutions.
4. Create and deliver compelling pitches and proposals.
5. Monitor market trends, regulatory developments, and competitor activity to inform strategy.
6. Lead the full lifecycle of debt advisory mandates from structuring through to financial close.
7. Build and oversee sophisticated financial models assessing project economics, debt sizing, and sensitivities.
8. Negotiate complex financing documentation (e.g., term sheets, loan agreements, intercreditor arrangements).
9. Manage all due diligence workstreams and liaise with legal, technical, and commercial advisors.
10. Coordinate and negotiate with a range of lenders including banks, institutional investors, DFI, and ECAs.

Financial Analysis & Modeling

1. Oversee the development and review of project finance models to ensure quality and lender compliance.
2. Conduct deep analysis of project risks, mitigants, and financial outcomes.
3. Provide actionable insights and recommendations to clients and internal teams.
4. Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Associates and Analysts.
5. Promote a collaborative, commercially focused culture within the team.
6. Share technical expertise and guide juniors through live transactions.
7. Contribute to the growth and strategic direction of the infrastructure advisory platform.
8. Share market intelligence and transaction insights across the wider team.
9. Represent the firm at key conferences, industry events, and client engagements.

Candidate Profile:

1. Experience across infrastructure project finance, ideally within debt advisory, project finance lending, or principal debt investment.
2. A strong deal track record in structuring and executing complex infrastructure transactions.
3. Deep understanding of project finance frameworks, risk allocation, and legal documentation.
4. Outstanding financial modeling and analytical skills.
5. Excellent interpersonal and negotiation abilities with proven client-facing success.
6. A well-developed network within the infrastructure finance community.
7. Strong team leadership and mentoring experience.
8. A Master’s degree or CFA charterholder is highly desirable.
