Thales Alenia Space Rome AIT Center is seeking an Engineer to design and verify Space Systems Tests and serve as a Platform Test Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a background in Electronic, Telecommunication, or related fields.

Key duties:
  • Developing and performing tests, designing and procuring test benches.
  • Executing tests on RF and Microwave subsystems and systems.
  • Analyzing, modeling, and simulating Payload test benches' functions and performances.
  • Defining validation methods and test accuracy standards.
  • Developing AIT Test Software and Procedures.
  • Using and tuning main AIT software tools (ECHO, E-SCS2, LMO, James, etc.).
  • Supervising test campaigns and analyzing results.
  • Preparing test reports and trend analyses.
  • Working in double or triple shifts, including during bank holidays and weekends.
  • Working abroad for extended periods.
Skills, experience, and qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Telecommunication, Electronic Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Experience with EPS/AVS subsystems testing is advantageous.
  • Experience with RF testing, including EMC campaigns, is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of main protocols and standards such as CCSDS, ITU, ECSS, PUS.
  • Familiarity with ESA standards (e.g., ECSS-E-ST-20-07C Rev.2, ECSS-E-ST-50-05C, ECSS-E-ST-50-02C).
  • Experience in writing or understanding Payload Test Requirements for satellites.
  • Experience with technical procurement of Payload units.
  • Hands-on experience with Payload or Spacecraft level testing.
  • Experience with Payload EGSE elements and development of Payload simulators.
  • Knowledge of MATLAB, C++, Python, Java, Linux is a plus.
  • Understanding of Telecommunication Sub-systems principles.
  • Proficiency with measurement instruments (Oscilloscope, Power Meter, Spectrum Analyzer, etc.).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
  • Team-oriented attitude.
  • Good written and spoken English skills.
