Reporting Line

R&D Local Unit Lead

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will contribute to ABB's success through technology, software, product, and system development. You will identify and implement innovative solutions, showcase your expertise, and work both independently and as part of an R&D team. The work model is onsite. Your main responsibilities include:

  1. Design, analyze, and document new/existing products, including creating electrical models of power semiconductors.
  2. Simulate power electronic circuit breakers for various applications.
  3. Select components and collaborate with suppliers to meet technical requirements and feasibility.
  4. Support cooling system design, including loss estimation and efficiency optimization, as well as gate driver design and simulation.
  5. Maintain documentation of all designs and collaborate with engineers across control, testing, and layout functions.
  6. Perform hands-on testing, troubleshoot products, and build/testing simulation models and hardware demonstrators.
  7. Analyze test data, optimize solutions, and prepare technical reports.
Qualifications
  • MS in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
  • Strong knowledge in power conversion topologies, power semiconductors, and thermal/electrical simulation tools (Ansys Maxwell/Icepak, SIMetrix, PLECS, Matlab/Simulink).
  • Experience in designing, building, testing prototype converters, and PCB design software (Altium Designer).
  • Proficiency with measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, VNA, impedance analyzers) and familiarity with MATLAB, Python (NumPy).
  • Experience with SPICE-based and function simulation tools, low voltage power conversion, and DC applications.
  • Good communication skills, team-oriented, positive attitude, proficient in English.
