We’re thrilled to bring Butternut Box to Italy and we’re searching for an inspirational and strategic leader to spearhead this exciting journey. As our Italy Country Manager, you’ll be at the helm of our expansion, transforming Butternut Box into a household name for dog owners across Italy. Your mission? Establish Butternut as the leading D2C subscription fresh pet food brand in Italy while staying true to our core values of care, quality and customer delight.

This role is about building, leading and growing. You’ll own the market entry strategy and drive sustainable business growth, balancing both top and bottom line success. To excel, you’ll need eCommerce/D2C expertise, a deep understanding of Italian consumers and an unwavering commitment to delivering an exceptional customer experience. You will have the autonomy to build and nurture a high-performing team, shaping a culture that embodies our values. A natural leader, you know when to coach, mentor, and empower, ensuring your team thrives in a dynamic environment.

At Butternut Box, we put the food back into dog food. We believe dogs deserve to eat the healthiest, most natural and tastiest food with none of the nasties. That’s why we make freshly prepared dog food, cooked like you would at home, delivered in perfect portions. Our mission is to help dogs live healthier, happier, and longer lives while leaving humans smiling after every interaction. We’ve come a long way since our co-founders (Kev & Dave) hand-delivered the first Butternut Box. We now feed many dogs across the UK, Ireland, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands & Poland, but we want to expand globally. To do this, we need a team of brilliant people who share our ambition to grow.

In this role, you will…
  • Lead the launch and operation of Butternut in Italy, overseeing daily operations and shaping the commercial strategy.
  • Build and nurture a high-performing, inclusive local team, empowering them to excel and fostering a sense of belonging across locations.
  • Develop strong connections with our UK team (‘Box Office’) and other European Country Managers to ensure alignment of mission, culture, and operations.
  • Live and breathe the Butternut values, putting the customer first in all decisions to ensure the best experience.
  • Adapt and promote the Butternut brand to resonate with the Italian audience while maintaining core messaging.
  • Own the Italian P&L, balancing growth with strategic investments.
A bit about you…
  • You are bilingual, fluent in Italian and English.
  • You have experience in growth-focused, commercial, or leadership roles, ideally in eCommerce or D2C, with a customer-first approach.
  • You lead with empathy, balancing coaching and mentoring to foster a positive team culture.
  • You are a relationship-builder, capable of connecting with teams across locations and forming strong partnerships.
  • You thrive in dynamic environments, embracing challenges with confidence and a solutions-oriented mindset.
