Job Description

***On-site opportunity in East Aurora, NY***

SUMMARY: The Technical Support Engineer is responsible for maintaining a thorough knowledge of company products related to cutting tools, holders, and other machine tooling applications. The role involves targeted application support through training and on-site testing to ensure customer satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Proactively solve tooling problems for customers.
2. Communicate customer and market issues to company management.
3. Develop, update, and maintain a technical database on all products related to cutting tools and machine applications. Review and recommend product introductions and deletions.
4. Act as a technical liaison to primary tooling vendors regarding product changes and updates.
5. Provide technical support to field sales engineers and inside sales personnel.
6. Learn about customers and their business plans, and relay this information to the Director of Sales for evaluation and planning.
7. Manage relationships with new and existing customers.
8. Coordinate meetings between customers and vendor representatives on technical issues.
9. Develop and implement cost-saving projects for customers.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.
11. Adhere to ISO processes and procedures in all work activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High levels of product knowledge.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with computer software relevant to the role.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• No direct supervisory responsibilities, but may provide indirect supervisory input.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• High School diploma required.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
• Previous sales or customer service experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

• None required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Requires speaking and hearing in English, standing, walking, sitting, and using hands for handling objects and controls.
• Frequent lifting of up to 70 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities include close vision and ability to focus.

PPE REQUIRED:

• Eye and ear protection, and as required by the customer, steel-toed shoes and head protection.
