About The Job

Are you seeking a new challenge? Do you want to develop your career in a dynamic environment? We are looking for a Thermodynamic Development & Base Calibration Engineer to join our headquarters in Sant’Agata Bolognese (BO). You will report to the Head of Powertrain, Design, Simulation & Development and work closely with the Thermodynamic Development & Base Calibration team.

Your responsibilities include engine thermodynamic development, base calibration processes aligned with product specifications (performance, fuel consumption, homologation parameters), and ensuring adherence to project timelines. You will handle engine control unit calibration, focusing on internal combustion functions and physical models, and oversee test planning and execution at powertrain test facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engine testing and development, including thermodynamic testing and test bench management.
  • Design and execute test plans, perform DOE measurements, and conduct robustness testing.
  • Analyze measurement data using tools like AVL Concerto, Cameo, ETAS MDA, and Matlab.
  • Develop calibration methodologies and optimize ECU parameters using ETA INCA and AVL CRETA.
  • Document results and prepare technical reports, ensuring compliance with targets and regulations.

Engine Models Correlation:

  • Integrate engine mechanics and systems development.
  • Support engine development through calculations and analysis.
  • Conduct detailed post-testing engine analysis and troubleshoot issues from field data.

Meetings & Collaboration:

  • Participate in thermodynamic team meetings, test scheduling, and cross-departmental reviews.

About You

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the automotive sector.
  • Proven engine calibration and thermodynamic development expertise.
  • Fluent in English; German is a plus.
  • Deep knowledge of internal combustion engine thermodynamics, transmission, and powertrain integration.
  • Experience with MG1 Bosch ECU calibration, boost and charge control, and emission models.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel and work collaboratively in a team environment.
